cap hill gridlock

June 29, 2008

summer nights are inspiring all of us come out of our dark apartments and celebrate the delayed arrival of cut off shorts weather.

and with this sudden heat wave comes a parking crisis.

no, not in terms of cars, trucks, and suv’s- but in terms if the beloved bike!

open poles and fences to chain our babies to are becoming scarce with all eveyone out so hillsters have been forced to get creative.

snapped this on 11th and pike on monday night. how great.

i feel like after a few tequila shots this could much more difficult to get down than first anticipated.

here we go again

June 29, 2008

after months and months of walking by the empty and depressing space on the corner of 12th and pike i am proud to announce, if you haven’t already noticed yourself, the arrival of a new place to grub.

the joint is aptly named pike’s bar and grill.

that’s simple enough but i gotta be honest-creativity can get ya far in these parts and that name just doesn’t cut it. it seems to match the hoity-toity status as the restaurants precursor 1200 bistro.

i dunno what it is about that corner but apparently the geographical location is a big inspiration in the naming process.

in one review, a diner believes it is the right place to go when you want to be part of the classier section on cap hill. fuck you, i say. we are classy. i lift my left pinky when i chug my pbr’s.

needless to say she also raved about some bullshit cocktail called the salty dog. i mean, if that’s your thing this place sounds pretty rockin’ but if it is gonna call home the troops a la belltown then count me out.

it sounds like it is ‘american bistro’ themed food, whatever the fuck that means-15buck burgers maybe?

i guess i can’t knock it till i try it so i am gonna do what i can to get pumpkin to take me on a date…..
